Zone Creations are no strangers to producing unique artefacts out of Perspex ® acrylic and their recent project, The Table Measure, is no exception. The Table Measure is an adjustable rule created as a replica of those currently used in the UK’s Royal Palaces. The Zone Creations experts were tasked with designing and fabricating this rule for Palace staff to lay out all the cutlery, glasses and fine china tableware in precise table settings for state banquets and formal dinners.
The Wimbledon based company have been long standing Approved Fabricators of Perspex® Acrylic, regularly pushing the boundaries in terms of design and precision during fabrication. Their use of Perspex® Clear acrylic within this project showcases not only the optical clarity and fine tolerances possible with cast acrylic, but also the reliance on skilled crafts people to produce such fine finishes.
The Table Measure is a fully functional measuring instrument, enabling its users to set impressive table displays with military precision. The exact symmetry in table settings that this device achieves is not only for stunning regimented displays, but also to allow diners comfortable elbow-room while fitting all the many requisite pieces of tableware within reach of each guest.
All measurements have been laser engraved at Zone onto the tool so each dinner item is geometrically spaced and positioned in exactly its required location. For instance, each place-setting should measure 18 inches across and lower edges of utensils should be aligned with the bottom rim of the plate, about one inch up from the edge of the table.
In 2012 Zone Creations were proud to announce the award of a Royal Warrant of Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen as Manufacturers of Bespoke Acrylic Furniture. This most recent project marks approximately 10 years of working with Buckingham Palace and continues their reputation for the quality of their work and service.
