Following the building of a new £27.5m secondary school in Hull, approved fabricators Ino-Plaz helped the local school photography students create a huge contemporary art installation within the main walkway.
The project brief was to capture the ‘Iconic Architecture & Architectural Surfaces Of Hull, In The Lead Up To The City Of Culture’. Permissions were gained to visit and photograph many key locations, including Hull University, Humberside Police Divisional HQ, Humber Quays.
Due to the scale of the space, the students didn’t want to simply mount photographic panels to the wall. Given the new schools’ contemporary architecture, Ino-Plaz helped the students create a unique installation.
Dense white Perspex® acrylic was drape formed by Ino-Plaz to create 20m long panels replicating traditional unwound rolls of film. The pictures were then applied to the sculpted design using printed vinyls.
The project was completed with an inspirational quote, displayed with laser cut Perspex® acrylic letters from one of the school students “Creativity is what makes life fascinating”.
