Award winning architectural sign specialists Signbox have recently been using Perspex® Spectrum LED 30mm block within their modernisation of a number of prestigious London developments, fusing their contemporary styling with our versatile LED optimised acrylic.
A central London entrance and lobby were transformed by Signbox on London’s Fleet Street, helping it to stand out on its busy, iconic location. Inside the lobby, Signbox responded to the architects brief by developing and installing oversized Perspex® Spectrum LED-lit numerals ‘165’. Making the most of the materials optimised LED performance, the 30mm acrylic is ideal for the creation of chunky, stylish one-piece letters.
Set behind vertical bronze slats and a visitor seating area, the sign emphasises the building’s brand as well as helping to create an inviting environment for visitors and tenants alike. Recommended by Resonate Architects and appointed by contractors ISG, Signbox also were charged with refreshing the two-storey-high entrance exterior.
Signbox’s work in the lobby area of the building presented challenges, Senior Project Manager Andrew O’Hara explains: “We were working with the architects and various subcontractors each tasked with delivering specific aspects of the project that needed to fit together seamlessly to deliver a modern, welcoming space. Our own contributions to this: the acrylic panelled feature wall and the bespoke, glass tenant directory ultimately fitted together seamlessly with elements delivered by other suppliers, while the oversized ‘165’ Perspex® Spectrum LED numerals served to link everything together and to reinforce the building’s brand.”
Located within the ‘The Golden Mile’ section of the A4, The Mille sits alongside GSK’s global headquarters and is conveniently located for Heathrow airport and for central London. Again, Signbox were called upon to create the high profile signage for this 12 storey redevelopment.
Signbox delivered a range of interior signage and again called upon Perspex® Spectrum LED for the signature reception signage. The specialist 30mm letters were manufactured with embedded LEDs to provide a seamless long-life internal illumination, with each letter being controlled by an independent driver ensuring perfect, even LED illumination. The installation teams’ expertise was called upon as the large letters needed to be installed with no visible fixings adding to the complexity of the build.
This project also involved hugely complex high-level polycarbonate letters installed 60metres above the ground, as well as wayfaring totems and directory listings. The quality of the finished project has led to Signbox working on more projects with clients McKay Securities, architects Spratley Studios and specialist contractors KeyShel.
