Perspex® frost tiles have been used by Stockport based fabricators Floreeda fabrications to add a splash of colour to a new housing development in Brighton. The Perspex® tiles are used to help illuminate and decorate the 4 entrance atriums within the 95 apartment development. The project was one of multiple installations designed by Stig Evans.
Over 80 tiles were created showcasing the range of vivid colours and pastel shades available within the Perspex Frost range. Woven into the walls alongside a contemporary slate design, chilli frost, aurora violet, sapphire blue and azure blue colours were chosen for the LED illuminated panels to create the dramatic entrance.
Much time was spent prototyping the design to ensure each tile emitted an even illumination without hotspots or banding. This was made even more challenging with each tile only allowing a depth of 26mm from the Perspex to the LED lighting. Flexible LEDs from Perspex Distribution were chosen as they offer continuity of colour along the entire length of the strip, also the 3M™ double sided tape on all strips aided the complex build and install within the confined spaces.
Traditionally known for their speciality manufacturing within the retail point of sale and display sector, Floreeda have recently invested heavily into the company with additional state of the art machinery ensuring that all fabrication is done in house.
The Perspex approved fabricators now boast that over 95% of their business is bespoke and their expertise attracts a diverse customer base from small local projects to working alongside large building contractors.
