The Leeds branch is the fifth Perspex Distribution branch and joins existing distribution centres in Blackburn, Tamworth, Chelmsford and Weybridge.
Keith Piggott, Managing Director of Perspex Distribution and Lucite International General Manager of European Sheet and Composites explains more. “Our expansion is a direct result of our need to meet customer demand across the region. Our name is synonymous with exceptional service and product knowledge, opening our largest operation in Leeds provides us with a strong foundation to grow both our product range and customer base in years to come.”
“Basing the branch in Leeds places us central to many key customers and our location within the Leeds City Region enterprise zone is a fantastic base for distribution. We have also generated 22 new jobs within the site in a range of roles from sales, administration, warehouse and drivers and have welcomed the support from the local council.”
“We are excited to welcome customers to our new Leeds premises today and give them a behind the scenes look at our operation. Ultimately, our business is about stock availability and quick delivery to match the fast moving pace of our customers. Our two Holzma HPP500 saws, 500 tonnes of stock and fleet of five delivery vehicles will enable us to meet the growing demand for quality materials in this area.”
The open day provided an opportunity to demonstrate the systems and services available from Perspex Distribution including order optimisation systems, LED schematic planning and their modern cutting machinery. The full portfolio of products available from Perspex Distribution were also represented through key manufacturing partners including SloanLED (suppliers of LED modules for signage and display), Palram (manufacturers of PVC Foam and Polycarbonate), IPB (PETg & PET manufacturers) and Multipanel UK – (aluminium composite manufacturers).
Roger Marsh OBE, Chair of Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership added: “I’m pleased to welcome Perspex Distribution to the Leeds City Region Enterprise Zone, where it joins a cluster of businesses across the manufacturing, printing, packaging and e-fulfilment sectors. At the heart of the Northern Powerhouse this site offers the business a fantastic location from which to further expand, with direct access to the arterial motorway network of the M1 and M62, a talented workforce and increased market demand.”
Leader of Leeds City Council Councillor Judith Blake said: “Leeds City Council is pleased to welcome Perspex Distribution into the Leeds City Region Enterprise Zone, creating more new jobs for the city and boosting the local economy. The growing momentum of the enterprise zone shown by the number of businesses moving in clearly demonstrates how attractive the area and broader city and regional economy has become to investors which is great to see.”
